Who started Bright Star Buddies & Why?

Susan and Nigel Cooper started Bright Star Buddies in 2019 as the younger-sister brand to Bright Star Kids; Australia’s much-loved Name Labels brand which has been operating since 2005. 

Susan, a Graphic Designer by trade, was bored with the Dog Tags on offer, but relied on them for her escape-artist dog Coco. She’d been returned home many times thanks to having an ID Tag, so having one on at all times was a must!

The problem was…there just wasn’t anything around that ticked the boxes Susan was hoping to tick. She wanted something that was lightweight, quiet, easy to read, long-lasting, and most importantly…. Cute as heck!

Nigel, Susan’s husband, being the print-master of the pair said “if you design one, I’ll make it!” And the rest is history really! 

Susan had the dog tag she’d been hoping for and together they thought other people would love the option to give their pets a premium pet tag that matched their unique personalities too. 

And so…. Bright Star Buddies was born! 

As a brand it’s grown to be a trending front-runner in the pet-care world. Where are they made and who makes them?

Our Dog Tags & Cat Tags are made on premises in Australia. Our incredible production team works out of a light-filled space just outside of Wollongong in NSW.

Every single tag is hand-resined by our team, assembled with all of the necessary hardware, packed with care & shipped to you by Australia Post. We love that we get to do it all in-house.
